Bulloch County, Ga, has been hard at work. Almost all trees have been removed from the roads, most of the county has power, and grocery stores have been open since Saturday. We've had Electric companies from Canada and California, here helping restore power, and aside from severely tree damaged houses Bulloch looks alot better. Schools are expected to re-open next Monday, though, to ensure all the dirt roads are safe for buses. Vidalia hasn't been as fast, though. I was able to remove the trees from off my house, but it's unusable. Went from a 3,200sq.ft. 2 story, to a flat dump. Thanks to my insurance, I'm not expected to be even attempting to rebuild my house until February 2026, and it'll cost me well over $800,000 to get it back to how it was. They've decided to cover $280,000 which s nice but nowhere near helpful. Neighbors have been helpful in helping removing their trees, though. Unfortunately, I lost 2 Aba Aba's in that house, which was upsetting because they were the only two I had.
This next tropical storm, Kurk... depending on it's severity could possibly undo all of the hardwork put in to restoring everything. Hopefully it remains a 'storm' as opposed to a category 4 hurricane, otherwise I could lose my house here in Brooklet as well. My neighbor has multiple large pine trees that could easily split through my house like a butter knife. I'm hoping the wind is in my favor again, and blows the trees the opposite direction, instead of right over my house.
Also haven't heard anything from my parents, which is slightly disturbing. They are in Brunswick, Ga. Not sure if they have cellphone service. Would go check on them but Brunswick is an hour+ away from Bulloch county, and due to my job I don't have any time off this week, only a possibility of Sunday.
