I just got my order from Jonah’s Aquariums and I order several fish. The one fish I don’t think anyone owns is a Black Redhorse. These are a type of sucker native to the US and also native to my state Ohio. My order was one Black Redhorse, one Everglades Pygmy Sunfish, and one Central Mudminnow. I had no idea that I was getting two of the Redhorse and Mudminnows but I’m extremely grateful. If you happen to own a Black Redhorse or even the Central Mudminnow since those aren’t as common, let me know!

No he doesn’t technically own them
Well I should probably start with, are you sure they're black redhorse? I should've looked at the list before responding, they don't have them on the main or backorder list, and the species is illegal to keep in a few places regardless (conservation concerns)... they do have white suckers and northern hogsuckers though

He said he got Black and Gold Redhorse in for me because I’ve been asking for a while. I think he was waiting for my to buy one before putting it up on the list. I’ll have to do a scale count once it gets bigger to ID it.

Central mudminnows are fairly common as pets. Rather fun, too- hardy fish, became somewhat interactive with time; not the most fun to watch, though. Kept both central and easterns; never managed to breed centrals, but easterns spawned fairly easily without much interference on my part.
I knew a few people who kept various redhorses for a while, with varying degrees of success; one guy spent years growing a fingerling out to a little past 25cm in a 150gal native tank, upon which he put it in a pond. Don't know what happened to it, though.
NANFA might be a better place to discuss natives.

I have eight everglades pygmy sunfish, in one my backyard ponds, with a few other natives to me. Never seen a Black Redhorse before tho.
