Info on Vieja breidohri

Saw some V. breidohri for sale in a LFS for $10 for 2 to 3 inch fish and tempting to buy one. I aleady have a V. Synspillum and a couple V. fenastratas in my collection and they started to show color at about 3 inch. The breidohri in the sore are plain ugly colorless fish. Does anyone know what size breidorhri will begin to show color and how do breidorhri compare with syn and fene in size and temperament?

Im currently growing out a male breidohri and he started coloring up in the 3-5in range...he grew slowly till about 4in then hit a growth spurt. I've never had syn's or fene's so I can't compare but he's feisty.

Breidhori are awesome fish and seem to be very owner responsive in my experience. Their colors only seem to get better as they grow. I currently have a trio (1 male and 2 females) which are one of my favorite fish in my collection.

of course at that size they will look grey and ugly.. But starting at 4" they will get violet/purple and shiny and red/orange if kept right.. If you've never had Breidhoris you might end up liking them more than any other Viejas.

I recommend you get a few.. U'll see them turn beautiful on you real soon.

Thanks animal. I'm growing out another female from another bloodline just in case my male wants to have 3 girlfriends. Lol. The little one is only 2-3" and already showing reds in her fins.

chevylife, watched your youtube. They are gorgeous. It's hard to believe an ugly duck developed into a swan. Is it the same male in your avatar. How big is your male and how long it took him to develop that impressive hump.

Thanks tiger15. Yes, that is the same male I've been raising for about a year and half or so. I can't remember when his hump started to really pop, but he's roughly 8-10" now. His hump gets bigger depending on his mood as we'll as his colors. I think he looks best right before his spawns with one of his girlfriends.
