I've been eyeing these for a while now and I'm tired of looking at 2 big azz sponge filters in my tank. Anyone buy or have or use them any feedback is appreciated most reviews are on turtle tanks i wanna hear from real people who use them on bigger tanks..

Thanks

Never used but ive tried several powerhead/filter combos over the years and even DIYed some plus size versions with sponge filters and pvc. It might be a good addition to your mechanical filtration, but i doubt it would be able to replace your big sponge filters if you are keeping a large tank with heavy bioload.

My biggest problem with those type of filters is they clog up WAY too quickly, often right around where the water is pulled through, limiting the abilities of the filter in a well stocked tank for any length of time. Theyre usually somewhat noisy and power inefficient ime too.

I think the next step upsize for internal filters is a matten filter, which can be a highly customizable, versatile, and efficient option for a large well stocked tank.

Like i said though, i cant speak for that particular filter though.

Well if you have meddlesome cichlids....im afraid taking the sponge out and putting in a powerhead only amplifies your problem...literally. Now you have a cichlid attacking an electrical appliance instead of sponge lol.
