I have a friend that doesn't need the liner from their intex pool. Will this work/be strong enough to work as a pond liner (buried).
It is thick enough? I figure it should work since it is made to be in full sun and take the damage of people walking over it.

I know know which liner your referring to, just a quick point, direct sun light is what breaks them down.

I figured it would be ok since they get direct sunlight when set up as a pool. Would putting rock substrate in the bottom help?

Boulders and gravel will def. block UV rays and may extend liner life.

would sand in the pond be an option to help cut out uv rays?

That's the same liner i used for my 600 gallon pond. Mine does not get direct sunlight so it should last a lot of years.
On a side note that liner is Very thick.

Is you're liner from the intex pool that has the metal frame (looks like pvc pipe when linked together) ?

No......it's from the pool that has the blow up ring. My friend had kids shoot his ring with bb guns and he was gonna trash it so i took it.
I have an Intex pool like your talking about (no fish, we actually swim it it....LOL)
and it looks like the same liner.
If you go to my thread "budget 600 gallon pond" you'll see the liner i used.
It worked great but was a pain in the rear to fold the corners right.

nice job on the pond cudatim68 !
Did you flip the liner over? The pool liner I have has white and blue blocks on it.

what about pool covers? are they of any quality, cause a 12'x12' is only 29 bucks
