I have an unusual problem. I have a large storage container for ro water and when the water reaches the top the float switch closes the tube and water stops flowing.

The problem is if water goes down a tiny bit it opens back up and then fills off and shuts off. With my new ro system (500gpd) the booster pump has a on/off trigger so water goes down a fraction the pump comes on it fills up and the pump shuts off.

Vaguely i think there is some sort of electronic float switch i've seen associated with automatic water changes where the on is a sensor below the off but not sure if it would work here.

What i'm doing for now is using a kasa smart switch and have hte on off period to keep the top of my storage tank empty (the storage tank is 500 gallons so having 50 or 100 gallon free at the top is ok).

The reason i have this issue is several tanks are on a drip system (2 gallon per hour) so there is frequent micro usage from the storage tank.

Hope that answers all questions begging to be asked ;)

I highly recommend the Hi-Lo tank level controller from Buckeye Hydro. It's a pair of float switches and a brain box that opens the RO solenoid (or whatever) when the water level drops to the Low switch and turns the solenoid off when water hits the High switch. You can put the switches anywhere you want so custom containers are no problem.

The one possible downside is the switches install from outside the tank which does involve drilling holes in the tank or getting creative with some PVC pipes inside the tank for mounting. You can ask them about different switches too if that doesn't work for you.

There's probably cheaper options out there since this is a simple set-reset latch but I liked the all-in-one solution.

Yea i won't drill into the storage container. It isn't worth the risk of compromise.
