Hi, i introduced some datnoids recently that created an ich outbreak and through treatment with ich-x everybody seems to be getting much better. However, I just saw this on the arowana, who has been eating voraciously 2 times a day until his belly is plump, and am wondering if this is fin rot or an injury? If it is fin rot how should I treat it? Melafix? Thanks. Btw, I’m doing 25-30% water changes everyday as it is suggested to do so with ich-x. That might help figure out the issue.

Under the circumstances I'd give equal odds to damage to fins by the new fish, damage to fins due to the effects of meds, stress from the ich and possible effects on water, or a combination. A lot of 'fin rot' questions I see actually stem from (typically) minor physical damage due to chasing or nipping, which can become fin rot but shouldn't with a healthy fish in good water conditions.

Update: I figured out the problem! I took out all the carbon pads so that medication isnt filtered out, and the flow became way too intense for a 3 inch arowana. It was around that time that it started developing fin rot. I’m going to try lessening the flow and see if that helps.
