Jack Dempsey losing scales

I have a 4. Inch jack Dempsey that was in a hundred gallon aquarium that is cycled ant tested regularly, along with several convicts all under four inches, and a medium sized pleco. When I went away all the fish had no missing scales where healthy. While I was gone one pair of convicts breed(big shocker) but my jack Dempsey was cowering in the corner which is the first time Iv ever seen it do that. Then upon closer examination I discovered that all of its scales where missing and its fins were badly damaged. After some research I discovered that it was most likely the pleco, I really want to know what should i do with the Dempsey , pleco is already in another tank and posted for sale. Does anybody know anything that will help its scales grow faster and possible help relieve some of the stress on the fish,

I agree with convict360, if your convict pair spawned, the JD was attacked and descaled by the spawning pair.
And if you want fry from the convicts, you should probably get the pleco out. It is a nocturnal feeder, and will eat the convict eggs and wrigglers when the convict parents rest, after dark.

I definitely don't think it was the pleco. I believe due to the convicts breedings they started attacking the JD thinking he is a threat to their mating.

The reason I suspected the pleco was because the convicts normally are very passive towards the dempsies even when breeding, they offer will swim right past the dempsies that are closer to their fry to attack another convict, however I will keep an open mind to what caused it and watch the other Dempsey that is still also about four inches in the tank for any loss of scales.
