I was moving around my tank today and decided to take out my jack dempsey and just take a closer look at him and examine him and his length. He was thrashing around too much or else I would have taken his lenght but during the time I had him out I got these pictures.

He is very fat and id guess around 6" or so.
The pic looks weird as I grabbed him quickly before putting him back in my tank. Never knew jack dempseys even had teeth. My one albino oscar also has teeth that resemble these. I dont like to handle my fish as I feel a lot of harm can be done but I figured I would just check to make sure everythint is alright.

We're you able to confirm if the JD is a male or female while you fondled it?

wrong section, this belongs in the CA/SA cichlid subforum.

doesnt seem to be any correlation between age, species or size with the teeth. I've seen some young cichlids with much larger teeth than other adults of the same species, I think its just genes

Moved to SA/CA.

To be honest, by 'checking to see if everything's alright', you probably caused more stress to the fish than whatever may have been wrong with it.

Ya I figured that afterwards and regretted it

All cichlids have teeth, and 2 sets, there are the teeth you can see in the mouth, on lips and jaws, and another set called pharyngeal teeth behind the gill arch and in (for the lack of a better word) throat that help work the food as it is passed down.
