Yes acclimate slowly and make sure the cherry shrimp get enough to eat.Was wondering if I could keep them since I’ve been told I can’t keep them in tap water. Currently I only have ghost shrimp and mystery snails in it.
This might sound dumb but are the different colors of shrimp different species? I remember being told at a LFS that the red blue and orange ones were the same but then another blue shrimp and one that was red and white need different water.Yes acclimate slowly and make sure the cherry shrimp get enough to eat.SmokyCartoon
There are 2 separate species neocaridina and cardina. The cardina shrimp require different water parameters than the neocaridina.are the different colors of shrimp different species? I

It was a LFS after I told them my tap water has high ph and hardnessWho told you you can't keep neocaridinas in tap water? Tap water pre-treated to remove the disinfectant of course. I've done just that for over 10yrs. I've kept them in everything from a ~2gal bowl to 29gals. My bigger tanks have fish that will gobble them up instantly.
Or is there something specific about your tap water?
Wouldn't your LFS be keeping their stock in the same water parameters as you or maybe you're on well water? It was a LFS after I told them my tap water has high ph and hardness
It was long time ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. If I remember correctly they used ro/di water.Wouldn't your LFS be keeping their stock in the same water parameters as you or maybe you're on well water?
I could see a drastic and sudden pH shift being harmful as it would with any livestock, but they're pretty tolerant shrimp.
