I've decided adding Cichla to my collection will be my next move.

I don't know if keeping only 2 together might generate aggression. Would it? or should I be looking at keeping only 1 by itself, or 3 as a group.

I want to know too so...bump.

It really depends on the fish themselves, as you can see from a thread on here someone is having trouble with keeping 2 pbass together, they're getting a little aggressive with eachother. When small pbass often do better in a group (school), so I would say you'd be best off starting with three and then as they grow you could thin them out to try keeping just one or two if you didn't want all three. What species are you interested in? What size tank? Will you have tankmates?

They'd be going in a 180g with an arowana and a RTC.

As far as species.... mono, ocel, orino are all acceptable.

What is the minimum size tank for 1 or 2 pbass?

A 180 would last a while. Also i would get rid of the rtc

Agreed, not only will RTC grow WAYYYY TOO FAST compared to your other fish, a 180 is no where near big enough, and it'll eat your pbass. If you go with C. ocellaris, monoculus, orinocensis, basically anything but temensis and pinima you can keep them in their for a while. Ideally an 8' x 3' tank would be the smallest I'd keep several pbass in for life.

more texas people! what kinda bass you got guys?

I would also agree with outsting the RTC. Just keep a group of Orino's, 8 would be good.
