I've just recently started feeding my ray red wigglers.

I'm curious if there's a good method anyone could share to keep red wigglers, night crawlers, etc. alive and healthy the longest.

Any suggestions are appreciated.:D

Standard worm raising technics, I guess. That's how I handled it for fish. Just have to purge them before feeding. Can't remember if it was 24 or 48 hrs tho. There was a discussion on it a few months age, A company kind of advertised here or offered worm advice to ray people.

i have earthworms in a big bag (donno the materials name):

Its filled with a couple k's of regular earth and the worms stay alive for months in there, especially when you keep them cold.

Believe or not--->I recently visited a local garden store and they had NO WORMS!!!WTF!!!They're reason,"Sorry, the worms are out of season."

I was watching dirty jobs and they were feeding them table scraps and then to bring them to the surface they would throw a piece of bread on top of the soil..

A guy here on our local forum raises them and he said pretty much the same thing :)

anyone try meal worms? I remeber back when I was in grade 7 or 8 raiseing meal worms. Would these work also? I think we fed them newspapers, paper towel and such, but i know you can feed them more nutritious food.

For earthworms, you can buy a special mulch at your local discount store. Or you can also use newspapers torn into many small pieces. The number 1 rule is that the worm must always be in a cold damp environment. You cannot allow the mulch do dry out.

No refrigeration are needed. If they are canadian nightcrawlers, then refrigeration is a must.

for worms submerged in water, daily water changes are a must. You must use dechlorinated water of course. Putting them in a fridge will allow the shelf life to be longer.
