Oscar Tummy
My LFS usually has these in stock and I was wondering about actual experiences people have had with them. Do they tend to be picky, sensitive or otherwise problematic, or is standard good pleco care (wood to eat, veggies, etc.) going to cut it?

Mango pleco are easily pleased.. Algae walfers, greens veggies are good source of food for pleco.. just make sure they get a regular diet.. and dont leave a week without food...

What he said!

If living with an Oscar, are chunks of vegetable with pellets wedged in them a good staple? I know my O won't let anything he considers yummy hit the floor of the tank. It will be a 125g tank. Are they fast to hop on the food or a little shy? I'd hate to wrestle with feeding.

u have to feed enough sometimes... thats the price for getting exotic plecos.. they need extra attendtion...... their not like regular common plecos where they will eat anything... make sure there are hiding places where the oscar cannot go to get food.. if u dont have any.. i suggest investing in driftwoods for plecos..

I would imagine they are very similar to their Baryancistrus sp. L18,L81,L177 cousins, and people often have difficulty feeding these due to their mouth structure, small stomach and very long intestinal tract. They should be considered as constant herbivorous grazers.

I feed mine standard sinking pellets, wafers and zucchini from the grocery.

New life spectrum as a staple along with some zucchini and potatoe should work fine for him.Try to find a small cave that he can fit in and the oscar can't get into. You could feed himn that way. Oscars are very greedy eaters.
