So an L25 is my dream fish has been for years. Finally in the position to get one, have a 160g cycling with a few baby clown loaches trying to track down a specimen of an L25.
- If the fins show lots of color but not red more yellow can diet change the yellow into red over time?
- Are there any breeders or preferred sources for quality examples of the L25? The only nice ones I’m seeing are on ebay for $1000+ from a guy with no website, instagram or aqua bid acct.
-should I be looking for exporters in SA instead of importers to get an actual high quality super red?
-what region produces the nicest super red examples?
- will a super red juvenile keep his color into adulthood, or should I be looking for adults to begin with?
-why do some have flat heads and darker bodies?
-do damaged fins lose color forever?
-feeling tempted to get 114, 600 or 273 if I come across a high quality example or if anyone here has something they would part with, should be fine as long as the 25 is the biggest?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this can happen if you feed things with more carotenoid. Most high quality cichlid pellets have this added.

You have to be patient... most of the nice ones get picked up real quick. Some on top of my head would be predatory fins, global fish co. , and of course Jason Plecos / cichlids.

No they usually have a very high minimum order amount

that's up to you and how you treat them. Given perfect conditions, you will be surprise how a blah fish turns into a show piece.

Head shape can be a difference in sex most of the time. They turn black/brown/all the way to light yellow depending on your lighting and color of your tank or the furniture in it. They also change color due to mood, but that's with all fish.

Not sure what you mean. When the fin grows back on a red part, it's usually still red.

Edited response... I thought you were talking about the ebay vendor..
 
I've had almost 100 plecos as recently as last year.. I'm down to 64 or 65.. I've not bought one from that ebay vendor.. over priced and if I recall, some of the reviews indicated the fish were nothing like the pics in appearance or size... $1,000 is bizarre imho...
