So i have another thread showing the injuries to one of my 6 inch or so L14. Right now she is in a hospital tank (I actually really do think it is a female). I want to rearrange my tanks to avoid this issue from happening again. The more I look at the wound I wonder if the other L14 (who I do believe is a male and is the same size) may have caused it. People that have kept this guys together have you experienced them to be very aggressive to each other? The plan is to grow them out and eventually try my hand at breeding. The tank is a 75g with several large pieces of drift wood as territories. Tank also houses: 1 -12 inch rope fish, 1 -4 inch synodontis decorus, 4 thin bar silver dollars. I don't want to waste my time and potentially sell of some harder to get fish to make tank room if my male is the most likely problem. thanks

While they can be aggressive towards conspecifics (same sex aggression included) I've never seen that kind of damage from another L14. I would be looking more at the rope fish, but anything is possible.

i think the rope fish is the most likely but just seems very large for him , but definitely possible. Stinks think I need to sell my RRS so I can use his tank to split this fish up.

I have not had breeding aggression below 10". I have lost 2 females at 11" about 2 years ago when I put them all together from 3 different tanks. I still have 5 >11" in a 180G with no problems for almost a year. The greatest danger is the 1st few months when they are establishing their pecking order. I don't know how many females are left.

thanks for the info. think I am going to move them to their own tank and get a third sunshine. This way I can grow them out and increase the chances of having a pair. How do you have your 180g set up for them?
