Just a question....my Royal is an amazing, beautiful and fiesty fish. It makes huge amounts of sawdust from every piece of wood I put in the tank and it eats virtually everything that hits the bottom. I got it about 3yrs ago and it was about 3-4"...it's now about 7" and very healthy....my favorite fish by far.
I've been told that it will get way bigger, but how much? When? I like it just the way it is, but am I missing something in it's care that is keeping it small?
Opinions would be greatly appriciated.
It is currently in a 180g with smallish tank mates..other than a 12" Koi (don't ask....lol!)

I would increase feeding with a clown loach and koi, probably a tough tank to get a good feeding in....Try higher proteins for growth.

Thank you for the reply. I will try out some new sinking food...this fish eats, trust me!!
And it will chase away any fish that comes near it when he has staked out his "claim"!

At 7" these fish compared to most plecos really start to bulk up making it seem like they are slowing down. Try taking a photo every few months and you will then see the growth. Try different woods sometimes they like a change. I had one that liked grape stalks over algae wafers. I haven't kept them for a while since getting serious about trying to make sure cactus plecos are available in the future.

Grape stalks? Not sure I understand what that is exactly...
I guess he has grown...and now that you mention it, there is a considerable difference in bulk then when I first got him. He has really colored up over the last year as well....along with marked territorial grumpiness. I love this fish and I think it's cool how it sticks up for itself. Right now there is wild rosemary and Malaysian drift wood....and that pleco it constantly grinding away...

Really starting to get annoyed with auto fill, auto correct, and predictive typing software all fighting to finish and fix my posts.

Grapevine wood is what my plecos liked.

Tell me about cactus plecos...are you breeding these?

Simple answer is yes. The answer why fry are not for sale is more complicated. I think I've finally figured out my extreme beginners luck with raising fry.

Multiple spawns of L97, L160, L185, P. leopardus (L600).
Single spawns of L25(close to another) and one I'm not ready to disclose (cautious).
You can check out my YouTube channel and additional info on Planet Catfish.

I have to say that plecos have become a fascination with me. I really like the smallish ones available in the aquarium trade, but caring for a really large one is a goal of mine. I have thought about dedicating an entire aquarium to a community of plecos and I just might do it.
I had a sailfin that got 18" and was seriously gorgeous....and of course the Blue Eye is like the Holy Grail...
Cactus plecos are very beautiful. Continued good luck with the breeding.
