largemouth bass and oscar???

i know this will sound ridiculous at first, but i have a 55 gallon with one 4" long oscar. i went fishing the other day for bluegill as a diet for the fish in my pond, (green sunfish and rock bass) and i kept catching really tiny maybe 3"long largemouths. can i put one in with the oscar until he grows about 9-10" then move him to the pond or release him? the one thing i would be worried about is the temp of the tank, but i know that largies live down in florida with oscars so i have no clue. the tank is at 77. i have 2 75 gallon HOB filters and the oscar is also in there as a growout until he is about 10". thoughts???

Once captive and tank raised you cannot release. They would probably get along ok for a very short time as both will outgrow the 55 in no time....The Oscar probably will bully the bass if anything. Need a big tank for the bass for life......300 gallon plus.

well yea the bass would then go into the pond which is about 500. the oscar is a wimp, he was even scared of a striped raphael cat. he lives with 3 big tetras and if anything the tetras are more aggressive this oscar is not at all

Yeah well i can see it working out just make sure to have a bunch of hides for each fish to be able run away from each other and make sure too feed the bass

In a 55, if it works at all, your success will be short lived.

As long as one does not fit in the other's mouth it would be fine. Eventually however if the bass became big enough the Oscar would be lunch.
