so i noticed my 240's filters waterlevel was low.
then noticed the carpet was wet.
last night i looked for the leak for hours with no luck.
its not the tank cus the ply under it is dry.
around the filter is wet tho.
i made it like a pan,but didnt seal it.lol
ive only lost like 5 or 6 gallons in 2 days im guessing.
so its slow.
pulled all the media out,put in buckets of water.
pulled out the filter.
put it on the table to try to find the leak,no luck yet :nilly:
i know its not thetank, overflow,or bio box.
i couldnt find any wet spots on the sides thats why i took it out.
this sux!!!!
will keep updated.
scary thing is if filter leaks how easy can the 240 :nilly::nilly::nilly:
think i can fill up the sump 2/3 of the way with it sitting on the 2x4's like in the pix? its halfinch bottom

can someone answer this please,
will all my media die if i leave it in buckets of fish water for 24hrs?
if i put it in a tupperware with a filter going will that keep it alive?
i gotta make a temp filter for the tank out of another tupperware.

i did find the leak
story
gramps drilled about a 2" hole in the side of sump.
then wanted a smaller hole so he made a piece of glass with a smaller hole in it.
siliconed it on the outside.
well it has a slow drip.
you can see the channel of water in between the glass.
so i guess im going to silicone a piece of glass on the inside.
but i gotta let it dry for at least a day.

good thing you caught it before something too bad happened. I had a leaky magnum HOT filter, i couldn't figure out why i had a wetspot below the tank and i couldn't find a tank leak and then i noticed the water lines came from the filter. Turned out that i was missing a rubber gasket on the output tube, a little bit of super glue solved it though.

this could make a person want to give up on fish keeping :irked: lol

so i made a temp sump
it doesnt hold much but its gotta be better then nothing.plus the side filter is going to.
had a lil dripplate i used on half of it.
the waterline is low but when the pump stops it fills the tupperware up. :irked:

the rest of the media i stuffed in a tupperware on the back porch.
i used the water from the tank the media is from.
and it has a filter that has been running for a long time going.

cleaned the sump
siliconed where the water was getting through at.
then put a ton of silicone on the patch glass and pressed it on and put a brace in.
then siliconed around the edges.lol
"i did it at 10:30pm saturday" "reference for me later" lol

hope it all works out ok

if anyone thinks something is wrong say it lol
