I'm looking to grow out a manzanita tree or two over a few years, and I cannot find them anywhere. Are they illegal on the east or something, can you buy them in Cali? I've asked a local plant wholesaler I know to find me one, and he cannot. I've searched online and cannot find any live ones there either. I'm at a loss.:irked:

Yes, I know it will not survive the winters over here, I have a friend who can house it in his 10k sq ft greenhouse from fall to spring. ;)

Im in vegas and went to school in Reno, NV. There is Manzanita everywhere if were talking about the same plant. I do see alot of people that want to own one though. And its more like a bush than a tree. Whats your interest in it?

Strictly to grow a few out for future tank driftwood. I know it's a very slow growing plant, but I could help it along with organic ferts and in 3-5 years I would have some nice plants to harvest. From what I read, it can be cloned as well, which I'd like to give a go at. And you're right, it's more of a bush, and all over the southeast.

O its in the SE? Maybe different thank the kind in the SW. Ours look like this

Sure theres nothing in the plant that could hurt the fish, or are you gonna use a special curing process. Sorry I know nothing about getting your own wood decor

My bad, I meant South West. There is nothing in the plant that can hurt the fish, it's the most popular driftwood for aquariums, it doesn't give off tannins and is chemically neutral in water. But yes, it also does require a drying/curing process as well as sandblasting or sanding.
