Been seeing lots of people put Clown Loaches with their Os on the tube. Now I know youtube isn't a great source of info so I'm asking here, what's the census of Cloan Loaches being in an O Tank?

I'm wondering because it is the request of my household that I come up with something to mix it up with regarding my 150G O Tank that I should be putting together this weekend. The 150 is going to have an 8" and 4-5" O in it once set up. I'm a big fan of Holey Rock and have some nice pieces that I think Clown Loaches would appreciate. But what's everyone's slant on that?

In addition, Bio Load will no be an issue. Their is going to be a Pair of Eheim 2262, and a Pair of Emperor 400s on the 150G.

Any Suggestions? If not Clowns, what would be something that the Os shouldn't terrorize.

I have never had that combination of fish. I do feel that O's have been given an undeserved reputation for terrorizing other fish. I have kept them for years and mine have always been easygoing with tank mates. As long as the tank mate wont fit in their mouth and is not trying to bully the O.

My Oscar (about 8") has grown up with my clown loach and neither have shown any interest (good or bad) in each other and have lived in total peace for nearly a year.

i am the same on never doing the combo so go 4 it if u like the loaches i just think there r more to put in with them

Yes, the loach needs to be a little bigger...My 5 inch Oscar hit and ate two Clown loaches 2"-3" size when i tried to introduce them

Oscars get such a bad rap because many fishkeepers are jealous of its status as the ultimate cichlid and most popular wet pet in the history of the world. They are gentle giants, and can coexist peacefully with any fish of the right size in the right circumstances.

That is so vague that it can be applied of almost every fish :P

Just make sure the loaches have some where to hide. IMO, Oscars are more curious than vicious and might nip. But never had an issue with the combination.

I don't think anyone is jealous of oscars bro. And they are definitely not the most popular wet pet "in the history of the world." I think that would go to goldfish. Other top contenders would be betta, tetras, etc.
I have seen some very mellow oscars, but as with all fish temperaments vary. I've seen some seriously homicidal oscars. Also, most oscars are line bred so far from their wild ancestors that their behavior can't always be defined as representative of the species.

To the OP, I wouldn't recommend it, but it could be done with large loaches. Also, Texas holey rock will raise your ph/kh, which neither your oscars nor potential clown loaches will appreciate.
