Had a bad day yesterday. I was doing some maintenance on my tank yesterday and must have bumped or moved one of my heaters. My fish started darting about and going crazy. I couldn't feel any type of tingle in the water but unplugged my heaters but they kept acting crazy. I got them out of the tank as quick as possible and most of them came good.
I ended up losing some phoenix tetras, my Thorichthys Maculipinnis (3 in) and 3 Albino Heckelli (1.5-2in). I lost 10 fish all up. They were all juveniles but starting to get some nice colour and showing some good behaviour.
I checked everything and found the newest heater would put a voltage into the water when the cable was bent a little. The heater was only a month old and was bought as a bit of redundancy as my other heater is fairly old.
I bought it from a LFS and he has been really good and will let me return the heater and see what he can do for me regarding the lost fish. The heckelli might be hard to replace though.
My remaining fish are back in the tank and doing ok. Hopefully no long term damage was done.
