Great looking pair.

I just noticed you have some real boulders in there. Is the weight on the bottom of the tank not a concern? I may have to look into getting some bigger rocks, I like that look...

Not really a big concern over the weight, the whole bottom of the tank is well supported.
I worry more about digging cichlid making them topple over.I try to get round this by moving the sand a placing them firmly on the glass bottom and infill with sand after.
I have had tanks with lots more rock than this and they were fine. However I would not try this if the bottom glass was not supported from underneath.

Yes I forgot to mention that.I have a layer underneath the tank.
Only under the very big rocks do I put it inside the tank but it can be a little messy if bits start breaking off so I keep it to a minimum.

What do you do with all the babies? Do most of them not hatch or get eaten?
I would think with fish that small in a tank that big they have so much opportunity to raise fry.

I will be leaving a lot of the thorichthys fry to their own devices and see how they get on.
I have siphoned some out to grow on in a two foot tank.i also have around 100 otapa swordtails growing on in a four foot.
It would be nice to see some of the thorichthys make it in the community now they are in the 7 footer.Time will tell.

I wish shipping was cheap. I would take some of those swordtails off your hands they are lovely
