I have a marlble cray in a 30 gal. How long till it will reproduce? Do i need to do anything special besides hiding places.

Got caves so it can hide? Tankmates? What are parameters? Temp? Cycled tank? Could help.

But mine started molting before any had even berried. Mine were also atleast 2.5"-3" before any one had berried. About how big is yours now?

Yes it h as hiding places, zero tank mates, tank is plumbed into my 125 gal fahaka tank, temp is 78-80, havent checked parameters lateley but im sure they are in check.

Marmorkrebs will start reproducing at as small as 2". However, their first couple of berries are generally low counts and easily lost, but after the first berries are done they are more successful with larger broods each time. You'll will see them, roughly, every two months.

Marmorkrebs don't require much in terms of specifics, they're very adaptable and easily pleased. The current (introduced) wild populations survive in Germany and Madagascar (year round and stable), so you can have a wide variety of tank temperatures and set-ups without causing any issues for them. They also enjoy a variety of foods, so a basic varied diet is readily accepted without much fuss.

You will still need plenty of hides, even though this is a more active and less aggressive species, they will still fight with each if they feel their survival is threatened (i.e. not enough food, protection, too much overcrowding, poor quality water, etc). But you can keep multiples together (and with offspring) without many issues arising.

Just make sure you have a means to dispose of the young, reports of introduce populations (aside from the already verified locations) are increasing regularly. People buy these gals for live bait, or pets and don't have a means to handle the young, so they escape or get released into natural waterways. Definitely not a good thing. But that aside, an awesome species! You'll love 'em. ^_^

They make tasty treats. I love my two adults, but I give all their babies to my catfish and bichirs (both love the lil' crays lol)

1.) What size are they? They may still be too young/small to be successfully reproducing.

2.) That pH is a little low for crayfish, in general. While tolerable at that level, crayfish should be kept in a the 7's pH wise (7.4 - 7.6 being ideal in most cases, that will vary with some species). Below and above 7, it can start to become detrimental to their overall health. And may be causes some issues with berrying or maintaining a berry (don't know though, just a thought).

3.) That temperature may be too high for them. I keep mine in non-heated tanks, that are usually in the low 60's. A fellow Marmorkreb keeper, who has been extremely successful over the years, attests to lower temperatures being ideal for reproduction in this species. While that's not verified/proven information (at least not by science, astacologists, etc), based on his success rates I'd say it's something to keep in mind.

Edit:

4.) Also, bare in mind, there are several species that bare similar markings to Marmorkrebs, and their overall appearance. You may have a species that requires a male for reproduction. But this will depend on your source, most auctions, sellers on MFK/AC, etc know what they're selling, so it shouldn't be an issue. Just an idle thought, though.

They are 2 1/2" now so ill just disconet the heater and add more aragonite to the filter and i got them from planet invert so ill whait a little longer
