I'm arguing with this guy, he says he's seen a 38" "Red Arowana" in a tank.

I don't believe this.
The biggest one I've ever heard of in captivity is 30".

Someone agree with me?

I've seen 28"

38"? never saw 1...cant help wif dis question...sorry

This should be interesting. So no BS please,
none of that I heard or my friend saw & told me blah blah blah etc.. :headbang2

well if you had a big tank and great filtration, perfect temps and water exchange and food galore then you could be talking as big as they get in the wild, as big as that fish could express anyway and probably in less time too. but no, ive never heard of one that big but heard they may hit the 1 metre mark which is very close. you could do that if you set out to do it and happened to have a fish that was genetically right for the job and that is if they do reach 38 inches. most stuff ive read says max size of 90cm.

Ask a vendor....what size do they get in the wild let alone a tank.

maybe possible if that person got it that big, lets say from the wild, then put it in a tank. but the biggest i've seen was about 30 in. at the boston aquarium. not a 100% sure cause i didn't have a measuring tape.

there was once a post about someone's visit to a big shop in China where at the entrance they had a kinda preserved dead asian arowana which was around the size we're talking. I'll try and find that post. It was about a very big store in 1000s of sq feet of space over several floors. Anyone remember dat ?
