Ok so there are close to 3000 species of catfish with an estimated 4000 species after they are all found. So here's the deal(I know I am catfish crazy, and come up with strange threads!):D: Let's come up with a list of species and hybrids that we own collectively as MFKs! I won't steal all the good one's right away I promise! Also if you have a species that's already listed just add your number to the number beside it. So let's see how many catfish are on MFK!

p.s.Just copy and paste the list and add yours to it. If someone has a problem with a species that you claim to have, you might want to post a pic of it to prove that you do have it. For example if you claim to have a Perrunicthys perruno catfish I will ask that you provide a clear picture of the dorsal fin so that I can count the number of dorsal fin rays, ect. Please add scientific names, and common names if possible, so that everyone can know what you are talking about! Also beside each species I will have ()s so that we can put the largest size as well. I'll start off with my largest size, and if you have a larger size, just add brackets beside the other ones, and put in the sizes so that we can track how large they are. Maybe put your username in the brakets too. Example RTC x TSN (necrocanis-37"),(Stotty-33"). That is only an example, but you get the idea! If it's large put up the size, and in a few months if you want to update that size do it!!!!:naughty: If your fish dies, and no one else has that species don't take it off just add RIP to the brackets! This is for all species to include plecos, cories, and coldwater catfish as well. Mutants are any color variations, or short bodied fish, or two headed, or glow in the dark, ect.

Just add your largest sizes like I did.

I've added some of the postively identified catfish from your list. Can't find anything
coral catfish, not sure what type or how many plecos you have, and post up pics of
anything you need identified like the unkown blue catfish.

This brings us to 20 catfish total confirmed with 9 actual species, and 2 types of hybrids.

are the common plecs we are talking about H. Plecostomus or Pterygoplichthys pardalis? I only ask because isnt the later what we see any more, as opposed to the real H. plecostomus

After some review I have determined that I don't stay up on Pleco info as much as I should lol. I have 2 hypostomus plecostomus, and 1 Pterygoplichthys pardalis. I'll update the list in the next post. Tnx :D

Also do you have some sizes to put up so that we can get some MFK records going?
