So, i can order these for 50 bucks a piece, but i really dont know anything about them. All i could find is that they get huge and eat snails.
So i have some questions.

Does anybody on here have one, had one or knows somebody who has had them?

Is it important that they get snails as food? I really doupt it but just want to be sure.

Are they active swimmers?

Are they aggressive agains other bottomdwellers?

How fast do they grow?

If nobody can answer me i will just get it and experiment :D

I think my LFS had one of those a while ago. I am not too good at IDing mormyrids though since they all look so similar. They called it a freshwater dolphin and it was around 12". I remember it was in a 20G for a while and it positioned itself like a headstander (I think that is all it had room to do). I think since it was so large, somebody must have brought it in. It seemed pretty healthy in that tank for a while. I am unsure if it died or was sold. They wanted 40 dollars for it.

Anyways, it didn't seem to be aggressive, but in a tank twice it's length, I don't know what personality could have been there.

If anybody else has actual experience with these I would also like to learn more about them.

Mine never looks at the snails in with it. He loves frozen bloodworms, live blackworms and sinking carnivore pellets though.

They're active if they have a roomy tank but they do need a hiding spot to retreat to every once in awhile.

Very very aggro with other bottom dwellers...actually with almost all other fish. Fortunately they have a small mouth and can't do alot of damage quickly...the constant harrassment from them takes a toll on their tankmates though. They're pretty defenseless against aggro fish like cichlids though.

Mine grows very slow...about 1" per year average?
