My sister's Oscar has been CTD (Circling The Drain) for tha past few months. He is somewhere around 6 or so years old and has had a full healthy life. This morning she called me because he hasn't eaten anything over the last two days and today it appears as though he has expelled his swim bladder out of his backend. She called me asking how to kill him humanely. I figured this would be the best place to find out.

I do NOT have any pics, 7 hour drive between our houses.
Don't know water parameters.

I know this is not much info to go off of, but if you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks gang.

thanks gang, will pass this along to her.

If you can get it locally (I always have to order it), Finquel is the most humane; it is a fish anesthetic and an overdose kills the fish quickly and peacefully. Lacking that Clove Oil is definitely a good alternative, though the vodka is not needed as an emulsifer and may cause discomfort. Simply shaking the clove oil/water mix thoroughly disperses it sufficiently to be effective.

I've used clove oil before, It works well and fast. Use the vodka to honor an old fish friend.

It depends on your stomach if you have a stomach for it a really big rock to the head is the quickest. But like I said you have to have a stomach for it not something everyone can do.
