any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated on setting up (5) 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tanks for goldfish for outdoors.. don't know if this question belongs to this section or to the pond section of the forum
any suggestions on how to set up filtration and uv?

thank you

It all really depends on what you're trying to do. Are you connecting them? Are they separate? Are you trying to breed them?

will have 5 different goldfish breeds in each stock tank
will use for breeding as my goldfish are quite large
each stock tank will all be in a row against the side of the house
will need to figure out how to put filtration in each tank-will large air pumps work that have valves to connect the air tubing to?

run 1 large airpump connect to pvc. run the length of your tanks. just run your airline straight down. no need for a gangvalve you run air at max im assuming. id make it so each tub is high enough to drain into the next. ad 1 extra tub as the highest use as filter. get yourself a nice pump. i can picture it hope i explained it ok lol.

wouldnt it be better for the bottom stock tank to be the filter so that all of the other 5 drain down into it then pump it back up, good idea by having the ponds at different heights though?

Stock tanks have 1 1/4" threaded drains on them...I've added a ball valve and flexible tubing to make water changes easy. Depending on the size of the fish you might want to put something over the inlet so that they don't get sucked in / out...

For filtration, I'd go with "dump" filters...basically a under-the-bed style rubbermaid storage container across one edge of the pond....with a pump in the pond pumping water into one side of it...and holes in the bottom of the rubbermaid allowing water to dump back into the pond. You can fill the filter with any media that you want...or get fancy and make it into a tower filter with one of those plastic drawered bins.

I would not dry to daisy chain the drains for 5 stick tanks together.

either way your pumping filtered water into the top tank, or pumping unfiltered water up to the filter and spilling filtered water into your tanks.

Personaly id take 4 inch PVC and connect them all together. Use a screen to keep the fish seperate and to keep them from getting stuck in the pipes. Them Use one of the tanks as a giant filtration setup. Like a bog filter or something. Put a UV on that connects the pump (out of the filter tank) to the starting tank. It would be a circling system.
