My 210g project tank

I picked up an acrylic 210g off CL for cheap awhile back. I'm in the process of building the stand and designing a sump. This project has taken longer than expected as I'm not able to work on it as much as I would like. None the less, I think it is coming along nicely.

I hope to move the stand to it's place in my house and set the aquarium on it this weekend. The aquarium needs some minor repair and has a few scratches that need attention, it will still be awhile before I have fish in it.

After the aquarium is ready I plan on doing the finish work on the stand, I'm leaning towards using cherry wood for the outside, I will need to build a canopy too.

My sump design is almost finalized, looks like it will be about 100g with a 45g refugium and an area for bio media.

This tank will house Mbuna cichlids. I also have a 100g SA community tank that is currently up and running.

A have an update

The stand frame is now complete and has been moved inside with the tank to it's final resting location. I have been scouring CL for the components I want. So far I have picked up two Ocean Clear canister filters, one with UV, and a Mag Drive 18 pump (came with the filters). I have also purchased two ReeFlo Snapper external pumps from a fellow MFK'er, these will be for my sump. I have completed my sump design, I need to find a source for acrylic or possibly use a glass 75g for this, though I'm leaning towards building my own out of acrylic. Still playing around with designs for a canopy, lighting and deciding how I want to do the final finish work on the stand, I'm leaning towards mahogany as I have found a local source for exotic plywood and dimensional lumber. Next priority - start polishing the tank.

I have started thinking about stock too - I originally planned to go all Mbuna. After a few visits to my favorite LFS, I'm now considering a few large Haps to go with the Mbuna, they had some nice sized eye biters that I liked.

Thanks for the compliment on my stand. It is probably overkill - 2x6 and 2x4 construction with a bunch of 3/4" plywood. I wanted to leave the front open for access to my sump, but I think I got a little carried away and overbuilt it. It weighs more then the tank

I think it's a great stand. I would like to build a wooden stand because my metal stand has a rot spot on one of the lower legs. I will use your build as sort. I didn't see any patent lol

No patent I hope it works out well for you.

I'm working on polishing the tank today. Using Meguiars sanding blocks, Novus products and an automotive style buffer. So far it is slow going but the tank is looking good. I will post a few pics when I have it finished.
