dude great job on the stand and tank. what caused the leak on your first build?
If you are talking about the first build that I did 16+ years ago I attempted to put drains in the bottom of the tank using sink drains. Keep in mind this was long before the internet and bulkhead fitting being so available. Anyway, when that failed and I had to reseal the holes I created, the seal did not hold up. The leak rotted the wood on the bottom of the tank before I noticed it.

Not sure if I missed it or not (been researching and all the threads seem to blend together after awhile) but what kind of plywood did you use for this tank (marine grade??) and would you use the liquid rubber again or go with an epoxy. I haven't quite wrapped my head around a foolproof method to seal a window with the liquid rubber. Also congrats on the wonderful looking tank.

I used regular everyday plywood. Because my tank has an exteranl frame I really was not worried about the thickness of the plywood. I used plywood that was in the 1/2" area and was sanded on 1 side. I put the smooth side in the tank to have a nice surface to start with. Liquid rubber was very easy to work with once I figured out how to seal the viewing window. I would use it again but I would also like to try epoxy at some point.
