My bristle nose pleco has a...

My bristle nose pleco has some kind of spot on his head... it looks like a sore.
he is in my hosipital tank and has been given salt and heat treatments for ich along with my parrots for the past four days... and the spot just appeared... i am concerned please help me if you can...

Are you able to post a picture of the wound / sore?

Then someone may be able to give you better advice. I suspect that it may be a skin reaction to the salt treatment. Plecos are not as tolerant to salt as many other fish, can make it difficult to treat ich of course

unfortunately my camera's batteries are dead. may have pic tomarrow, but the sore kinda looked like a hickey on his head right behind his eyes, i looked at it just now and its got a layer of slime looking kinda fuzzy !!! T.T i hope he'll be ok...

It could be several things, the most likely is a scrape or bruise that is now getting infected with either bacteria or fungus, a combination of Maracyn and Maracyn 2 should clear it up. You can also swab the wound with hydrogen peroxide or iodine if you want to catch it and bring it out of the water for a moment. If So wear rubber gloves to protect the slime coat.

Yeah.. probably sting a bit, bit like putting a dab of iodine or peroxide on a cut finger. But it will kill any bacteria or fungus thats infected the spot.

It will do less harm than leaving the infection untreated.

Out of curiosity, is the slime shimmery looking? If so look up costia on google

Uh... no not really, it just looks kinda fuzzy looking. it started to either go away or some of it fell off when i wasn't looking. ><! geeze i hope he is ok. he is in my hospital tank like i said, but how much salt is too much salt? and is heat bad for him?
