Had this guy since he was about 3", he eats anything that can fit into his mouth... Ate a 6" peacock bass when he was about 6" lol! Thats why I keep him in a separate tank, I'm afraid he will eat my ATF if I put him in my main tank..
Thank youLooks great!
Thanks and yeah. The temperature is at 80 degrees. He was in the sump of my 135 up until a week ago and I had to move him into his own tank because he outgrew the sump.Yes it does.I currently have two that I have been trying to get some size onto for the past few months.Do you have a heater on that rank?
Interesting that the perch grew in that dark sump, was that tank heated as well?Thank you

I am thinking of turning off the heater however. Just so that his metabolism slows down, he will start eating less and will grow slower.
Oh the sump wasn't dark haha. And yes I was growing out my ATF in that setup and the temperature was at a constant 80 degrees. These are from temperate areas but I have heard from a couple of people who have kept these guys that they can do quite well at 80 degrees. I had my doubts at start but seeing this guy grow changed my opinion. Maybe you could slowly up your temperature in their tank? Higher temperature means higher metabolism so it might help with bulking them up.Interesting that the perch grew in that dark sump, was that tank heated as well?
I read that these are not exactly tropical fish but come from a temperate river in China so I have had mine in an unheated tank since I have gotten them.
Thank you .wow...that perch is beautiful. Love that head shape.
Thank you for that bit of first hand knowledge...such information is what I have been looking for and the connection with the temperature and metabolism and growth sounds as if it makes perfect sense.BTW,where did you get yours from?Oh the sump wasn't dark haha. You're welcome and I'm glad I could help. Your posts about datnoids helped me tremendously while I was growing mine out .
