I have a 125 on the left which will be the grow out tank.2-75gls on the right,Top 75gl is for water storage and the bottom one is for Pista, water lettuce. The bottom 75 driven by a 700gph pump and the 125 is driven by a 950gph pump share the same 55gl sump. The bottom 75 has a valve so I can hook up a hose for easy w/c and the top 75gl has a valve that drains it into the bottom 75.For fast hands free 75gl w/c.Now what I have going on here is the bottom 75 is going to be loaded with Pista,to aid in the goal for pristine water for my discus. What do you all think?
...............please watch video.....................

125G as a grow out tank?.?.?. What size juvies you plan on getting? The w/c routine has me a little confused and I've never heard of pista used for discus. Seems a bit much to try to obtain pristine water, to me clean water and a stable ph is the best IMO.............

Not sure what part has you confused.I drain the bottom tank into the yard by turning a valve Then the top 75 (water storage only tank) with the turn of a valve dumps all of its water into the bottom That share same sump with 125.Basically the bottom 75 is like a huge refugium.

Oh I see it now. So you drain the sump which is shared by the 125 and bottom 75, then refill it with the top 75G. Sounds easy enough. What size and quantity fish you plan on getting? Feeding routine and diet? How often will you change the water???????

Actually the bottom 75 drains out back and the tank above it refill it.Sump and 125 grow out never shut down. This way has to be the most stable water conditions because the new 75gls in slowly mixed in over a half hour or since both tanks sharing the sump have a 8 time turn over rate. Still undecided on all the above for now.I have a few members from our local club that make their own beef heart mixture. Also I have several 2lbs flats of blood worms lot of flake food.w/c at least twice a week depends on par.8 small discus in 235gls with all that Pista might only need 2 per week but that remain to be seen.Time will tell.I am going to grow them out tell they pair and then I will pull the first pair and put the in the bottom 75gl and when there is a second pair it will be time to put both pair up stairs in my planted show tank(that I an still working on).I do not want to breed discus more than once if at all.I just want a pretty planted discus tank.
