I’d never thought I’d make this post. I didn’t even THINK it was possible. I would have never imagine a hamster was able to bite through GLASS. The main question, is my tank stable?? Would it crack under pressure now??
I saw him constantly nibbling the edge of the tank, I didn’t bother checking until now. This is within a DAYS work.
I think this is a first time for everybody…

That looks pretty close to the seam of the glass and silicone. I personally would invest in another aquarium.
I would never let a hamster roam around freely they love to gnaw on things. Never would think it would chew on glass.

same. i assumed it wouldnt have chewed glass out of everything. the seam of the glass and silicone hasnt been gnawed through yet. does that mean the tank would still be fine? i dont know much about construction etc.
i really rather not invest in another tank... not because money wise, but im not sure how im suppose to transfer all of the aquasoil, sand, wood, rocks and plants into the new aquarium... it would be such a tedious and difficult process. if this tank is ableto hold with the chipped section i would leave it be.

That’s crazy it chewed glass! Did it swallow the shards?
im not sure if he ate it...i just got this hamster a week ago. my previous hamster didnt gnaw the aquarium glass, this one did however.

I have a tiny hamster like you. I would recommend repairing your tank or getting a new one. Also, get some toys for it. If it chewed through the tank, it most likely is bored, so its taking its boredom out on the tank. Also, ensure he has a wheel and all of the other hamster essentials to be stimulated correctly. I would also take the hamster to the vet to ensure the glass doesn't harm it, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Did you see pieces of glass on the floor? If not it either ate it, has it stored in its cheeks or stashed the shards elsewhere

Cute fluff ball 🫀✨
I say replacing that side will be best but some sealant will also work
