I recently bought super red arowana online from reputable reseller in indonesia. It is directly imported from Kalimantan. Fish arrived yesterday and from my observation, it has good proportions of fins and tail. Color wise , it has good metallic color with blue base. This arowana have good red genes judging from the tail and lips red colorations. There is no protruding mouth, and eye looks normal.

I feed my new arowana the next day after it arrived. Diet consist of mealworms (gut-loaded with Jumbo Carnistick pellet). I planned on adding varieties of diet including cricket and superworm once it gets bigger.

For lighting, I use Mayin 2700k tanning lights. This light have high uva and uvb content which is good for the development of colorations. The low kelvins will not disturb and cause burning to the fish. I still havent bought viewing light as I planned to move my arowana into bigger tanks once it grows.

Water change will be done 90% every day with R0 water mix with minerals.

This thread will be used to keep tracks of my fish progress. Wish me luck on my raising/ grooming journeys.

I supposed 90% every day is lots water change. But I do have good water sources and my wc regime only took 15 mins so why not make the best use of it?
Furthermore, my tanning light have high uv content (about 108 mj/cm2). Im afraid there will be moss to be dealt with if I do not clean regularly.

Its been 6 days since my super red arowana arrived. Been putting my arowana on 2700K tanning regime (8 hours a day) with big WC. My arowana didn't show sign of stress and I suspect the low kelvin help with that matters. Colorwise, I am pleased with the development. Base color seems to intensified, I can see the blue base more clearly. I noticed that it also have green coloring on its scale but cant seem to capture it well on camera. My fish is about 23 cm in length when I first bought it. Rims on belly area looks more apparent after 6 days of soft tanning. Here are photos of my arowana progress. Sorry about the backlight, I havent bought viewing lighting for tank. I am planning to move my super red together with my currently 45cm crossback arowana once it gets bigger size. Is it a good idea to put 2 arowana in one tank together?

Bro,

your red arowana looks great!

Blueish shine and nice body shape. Groom it well and it will blossom.

However, 90% water change is in my opinion risky: ph shock, etc.
I know you mentioned you have good water source, but what happens if there is a problem with the water source with changed parameters? Ever thought of it?

Better safe than sorry bro

thnx for compliment, blue base color is more pronounce when I got them shipped from seller. I believe because it is kept in black color tank on seller. At my setup, there is no background color and it mostly facing a white wall. I noticed blue coloration not as intense and it showing gold-greenish base color with blue rims. I will try to post another photo when I can.

I have to agree that 90% Wc is unnecessary for 1 fish. I will try to lessen it to maybe 50-60%. Water parameters should be stable, as I am using Reverse Osmosis.
