i got a quote for 8 ft by 3 ft by 3 ft from both and this is what i got from ND Aquatics: £3500 for bare tank and hood cannot make cabnit. AC Aquatics: bare tank £1416 with cabnit and hood £2500. just thought id let people know if they were ooking for tanks custom buit. Although ive heard nothing but good reviews about ND i must admit.

Make sure both quotes are using the same thickness material. There are some tank makers (usually the better ones) that use thicker glass, which could explain some of the difference in the quotes. Quality of work is also a factor...sometimes you get what you pay for (although I do not know anything about these two tank builders).

I saw in your other thread you are on the second floor. Is your building made of concrete? Your setup will end up weighing around 5,000lbs so make sure your floors can support it before you place your order.

Yes your right I just doubled checked and nd aquatics ise 3 mm more thick glass, would 3 mm really be that more expensive where talking a extra 2k and ano it wornt be kept in flat my contract runs out in a year and get moved to a house which will give me time to save anyway. The flat am living in is new built so am guessing it would be pritty strong?

If you are planning on getting a tank this big, I would only look at houses that are built on concrete slab foundations. Otherwise you will almost definitely have to reinforce the floors to be able to support that much weight.

On another note, don't underestimate how much it's going to cost to run a tank that size. I overlooked how much it was going to cost to heat my tank during the winter and I'm now keeping goldfish :(

770 Gallons- see link in my signature for my build thread. I'm not sure exactly how much it would cost to heat, but my estimates are anywhere from $150 to $300/month in the winter. That's running 2,000watts of heater. I'm not willing to spend that much so I'm stuck keeping cold water tolerant fish.

I brought a full set up from ac aquatics cost me thousands hood started falling apart 2 months after use paid extra for them to make glass slide covers. Its terrible and they won't do a thing they said they can't garentee it when you've filled it with water! Laughable should be making vivariums joke

At that size tank, I'd also go with metal welded stand. I'm not suggesting wood could not be sufficient, just something to consider. You can always build the wood wrap later if you wanted to keep open underneath.

I bought my tank from ND aquatics about a month ago and its 8ftx2.5ftx2.5ft and that cost me just under £1000. Thats out of 12mm glass. The quote i got from AC aquatics for my tank was more expensive, cant remember how much more off the top of my head though.
And like aldiaz33 said, make sure your floor can hold it. I had to take my floorboard up and reinforce the joist up.
I didnt buy the stand from ND, i had someone build me a steel stand and its solid.
