Hi guys,

I have 2 midas from early age when they were fully black. Recently they started to clean one big hole together while light is off (only sunlight hits tank). They defend that region together etc. When light turns on fighting begins.
They fight between each other like there is no tomorrow.
I would say that one with smaller hump is a male. It is bulkier, higher and more territorial. Second one is not as high but it has bigger hump so I'm confused is it a female or not.

Got them small as a pair and never had problems. They even fight together with jaguar sometimes (smaller push around over tank).
They ate like a pigs but now not eating whole day.

Any help/advice is appreciated. If they are both males and keep fighting I want to give one to someone.

Thing is that they both clean same hole around rocks while sunlight is hitting tank. As soon as regular light turns on they start to fight. Crazy ass fishes.

Thanks guys, confirmed my assumption.

What size of tank they need to live together? Tank is ~220gal

I like how the carpintis wants some action as well lol

I've found this behavior with a lot of Amphs I've kept, even breeding pairs. As soon as the light goes on they begin to fight. My breeding Chanchos and Trimac change temperament as soon as the light goes on.
