Hi all.

Just joined up as have been fish keeping for number of years, marine, freshwater but just upgraded to new 6ft 600 litre tank.

Only occupants so far are a mild mannered large tiger oscar, blue acara, parrot fish, large red tailed shark and young fire eel.

Saw a large lima shovelnose today in lfs and love the look of it. Initial research suggests can work in tank but what you all think of these fish?

Would it be OK?

Thanks

thatll be ok for a little while...he'll get cramped though eventually they do get relatively big. Unless someone else knows something different I'm fairly certain they can push 12-15" pretty quickly?

He should be alright for a good while though.

youll get differing opinions here. My personal opinion is that isn't terrible, hes got roughly 6-12" in that tank in certain places to be able to turn around and whatnot, but he will put on a bit more size and that'd be pushing the sides of the tank where it bows in. he'd essentially be stuck using the middle of the tank.

ya so roughly 1.5 feet, you were correct. Like I said, I personally wouldn't do it with a fish that big already, but again you'll get different views on it and he'll be alright for a little bit. Just remember that's not going to fit him comfortably forever so have a rehome plan in place lol.

Thanks for your advice. Will pass on it I think
any time, its always a good idea to pass on a fish when the home isn't a complete no doubt forever deal, unless you can flip fish real easy to another person or lfs. Good choice imo.
