On Wednesday night I had a shipment of fish come in which included 8 T. ellioti. They were bagged in pairs which was a huge mistake - one in each bag of two was either already dead or beat to snot and nearly dead. They are in my QT tank and doing well, but one that had been beat up in the bag has now developed fungus on the damaged edge of the dorsal fin. Honestly don't think I've ever had to deal with fungus after fin damage so wanted to confirm how I should be treating it. The tank was dosed with salt and Seachem Stress Guard by default as is my usual routine for new fish shipments, to help ease them in. Once I saw the fungus had developed yesterday (two days after arrival/damage, I gave a dose of Seachem Kanaplex last night. Will that do the trick or should I go a different route? I'm in Canada, so access to ACTUAL fish medications is pretty much nil at this point. I do have kanaplex, metroplex, neoplex, Pima Fix, API Fungus Cure (but the expiration date on that was 2020, so not sure how much effectiveness it loses after expiry) on hand.

I suppose I could dig out a small tank...I think I have a 5gal still kicking around. I just didn't want to stress it out more by moving it again so soon.

Even 2 years expired you think the API Fungus Cure is the better bet?

I think salt and clean water would be definitely affective. I'm not sure if the API Fungus Cure is still good.

Well he's got clean water and salt, so no real need to move him I don't think. I'll give it another day or two as is and see if I notice any improvement I suppose.

Yes that's great no need to isolate. Keep your I on him make sure others don't harass.

sorry to hear about the shipping issue and loss, that sucks. Hopefully the vendor will compensate you for your loss and change the way they ship. I also would treat with salt and clean water.. I'm no expert, but that has worked for me.

Oh they refunded me for the DOAs right away, that was never an issue. Just a pain because I ordered the number I did WANTING that number, and now I'm short which sucks.
