It's been a pretty slow day at the pond build so I thought I'd show some photos of what I'm going to use to decorate the exterior of the pond. Here in Costa Rica you can almost cut and plant anything anywhere. As long as the rain doesn't wash it away. There are also a number of neat ferns, orchids, and epiphytes that I'll be able to stick in the nooks and cranny's of the two waterfalls and on the palms surrounding the pond. Here are some photos of different types and the variety of bases in which they latch themselves onto and grow. Sometimes the latching needs a little boost so I add some fishing line or thin wire which buy the time the roots are attached the wire has rusted away. The photo of the large palm tree has about 15 of the famous Noni trees growing out of it along with many other species of ferns.
My plan-- find a house with a long shallow pool, and build a giant plexiglass divider in the middle-- that way we can swim with the fishes without actually swimming with the fishes..
Maybe it's a pipe dream more than a plan. Still... that would be REALLY COOL!!!
