Newbie here folks

Hey y'all

Newbie from Idaho and i have a question. How do you guys prepare your driftwood so that it doesn't produce that "black water" effect?

Many thnks
Welcome aboard
You can place the driftwood in boiling hot water to release most of the tannins. The driftwood will still release tannins but water changes will remove the tea color after awhile. Tbh depending on the type of driftwood.

The Tannins are not bad for your fish, some fish enjoy a darker looking tank. its more of your preference if your impatient and want to place with wood in your tank feel free to do so and with regular WC the tannins will go away.
But as tlindsey said depends on the driftwood and size

Welcome! Tannins don’t hurt, but when I got some wood from Amazon there was some instructions that said 3 one hour boils and 2 cold soaks. Prob a bit overboard but no tannins.
