Hi guys
I just bought a Malaysian golden blue base arowana last Sunday. Its not very big only abt 6inch. I bought all the filters, lights and everything already. When I brought him home, soaked him in the tank for abt 30mins to match same temp. I tried to feed him the next day but didn't want to eat. And I tried again till today which is a Wednesday it still doesn't eat. I'm very worried that he is not eating. I fed him live worms, prawns and pellets. He just completely ignore the food. He keeps staying and the bottom of the tank. I'm ver worried as I bought this fora quite a huge sum of money. Could anyone help or give any advice. What should I do if he continues on like that.

Welcome to the forum -- it could be just that he's stressed and still settling into his tank, this is very common with new, esp. younger Aros. If this is the case it will just take some patience.

However, to better help you we would need to know:
a) What size tank and was it already cycled when you put the fish in?
b) Do you have a water test kit and if so what are the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? If you don't have a test kit you should get one in any case, it's a necessity.
c) What is water temperature?
d) Any tank mates?
Photos are usually helpful too.

Hi
It's a 4ft tank. It doesn't have any tank mates yet so it's all alone, maybe when it settles down I'll get some plecos and others. I'm not too sure ant getting the water test kit but I'll try to get it ASAP. The tank temp is around 27 to 29 degrees. I'll post some pictures later.

If it's a new tank that hasn't been cycled yet, the test kit numbers are going to be really high and those elevated levels can be very harmful to a fish such as an arowana.

Hey Kyle, really not sure where your experience/knowledge levels are at so please excuse if you know already, but if you need some good info about cycling your tank, you can check out this informative thread as a starting point:

But at this point, as your fish is already in the tank, if it's really not cycled then yes get a test kit asap and if ammonia is present you'll need to do daily water changes until the beneficial bacteria in your tank/filters catches up with the bio load your fish is creating.

Btw, here's another (more recent) thread which also has some great info about cycling and bio-media:

He has been eating and I already did whatever you all said he seems very happy and healthy right now
Another question is how do it get him to eat pellets? Now he only eats mealworm.
