Thanks, thats what I found out too, with a little internet research. Didn't find the exact conversion formula, but it's not an exact science with these test kits anyway.

if it was all water 1mg=0.001 gram 1L=1000 mL which weighs 1000 grams

0.001/1000 is 1/1000000 or 1 ppm


the only correction is that the nitrate isnt water but in ppm its a small correction

But in saltwater, that formula is not as accurate, but it's probably close enough. I guess there really is no formula, except for pure water. It depends on the content of salt and dissolved solids in your water.
