Hi,

I have a pretty FH with a pretty fat head, and i think it's getting so big it's causing him issues eating.

I noticed a few weeks ago he was starting to bloat, so i gave him an Epsom salt bath, and food soaked in a @3% solution as recommended be RD. RD.

When i say "issues feeding" he is eating Hikari floating pellets, and when he goed to get them he seems to be jumping up to get his head out the water to get the food. When he gets it he is eating like a beast but i am noticing 2 issues:

1: I woke today and he had a big scratch down his head from a clip that held a cable tto the lid of the tank, i have now covered that with some yoga mat so he can bash himself again.....for now.....

2: this is probably the more important issue, when he jumps to eat, he is gulping air to get the food, i only saw him doing this today, i sat watching him eat, and he grabs the food then starts chewing and swimming backwards and blowing bubbles. .....

So now the questions:

A) What can I do to stop him bashing his head? I tried feeding sinking food, but when it's on the bottom of the tank he can't get it because his heads too big.....

B) what is this swimming backwards thing? He gets the food, hits reverse, does a half lap of the tank then goes back to normal. He doesn't seem to have and floatation issues, he can hold position in the water column, but he is looking bloatie!

Any advice would be amazing, I am just confused at this point!

Thanks

EDIT: His poop is fine, no white stomach lining or white stuff coming out, it's just normal what I would expect from Hik2.

His fat stomach seems genetic but try not to overfeed. 1 & 2 seem fine to me. for a, may be try feeding 1 pellet at a time so he catches them in middle but I wouldn't worry about it. For b, fish do weird things, as long his buoyancy isn't an issue, don't worry.
