Old tank had ich, new tank doesn't, need shark treating info

I'm going to try and make this brief and easy to understand. We had an old tank and a shark egg (among other things). Shark hatched in old tank which had serious problems with ich. We since got a new bigger/better tank and have the shark in a QT tank for the meantime. We have heard from numerous places that sharks can't get ich and he certainly isn't showing any signs. BUT we don't want him to be carrying the parasite and infecting the new tank. So here are my questions:

1. can sharks carry it while being asymptomatic?

2. If answer to #1 is yes, how do we get rid of the ich so we aren't infecting our new clean tank?

3. Can you freshwater dip a banded cat shark?

4. sharks can't handle copper but i've read that quinine works - has anybody done this and is it a good option?

Other comments/suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

Well it might not matter now. We just found out that we have to relocate to Louisiana as soon as I finish up my degree. We're trying to sell everything but some corals and the shark (since he's eating VERY well and we're attached to him). BUT we might sell him to the right person. We live in Firestone, CO so if anybody around has the ability to care for a black banded cat shark, PM me and we can talk. IF we must sell him, he has to go to the right home.

You heard right, elasmo species can't get nor can they carry cryptocaryan (marine ich). Got a pic of the shark? Sounds more like a brown banded bamboo shark that was mislabled.

Here you go. He's definitely black not brown so maybe this is a misconception on my part? Thanks for the help!

Oops, posted a pict twice but you get the idea. He wasn't labeled when we bought him since we got the egg and they didn't know what it was. We just woke up one morning to this beautiful baby!!

Not bad looking at all. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your egg? I always consider one when they get them at the shop formerly known as Premiere, but can never meet the size requirements.

On the other end, I was under the impression that ick was a free floating (most of the time) ordeal. Virtually every fish tank has ick but the fish with strong immune systems (eating well ec. best treatment) don't show up with it as it can't get a root into them. Again, I could be wrong but my general understanding is that ick is always there waiting for a slip in the fish.

Swim on!

We got the egg from a store in Boulder, Colorado called Exotic Aquatics. They'd had it for a couple months. We barely ever saw movement so we were worried it wasn't going to make it...turns out it was because it was too BIG! AquaMart on Hamden and Wadsworth has one in now too. He's my baby and I hope we find a way to move him with us but at this point I don't know if i'm willing to risk it for his sake. He's so beautiful and is eating so well. Are they pretty hardy as far as transport/moving tanks and so on??
