Old World Exotic

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my boyfriend, bOTTOMdWELLER, has a long time friend who works there. you could PM him and ask for more details.
We got some fish from there two Christmas's ago, and they were all beautiful and healthy. I think it's a reputable place, with a great selection.

Old World Exotics is a really great place run by serious fish freaks! The owner (Originally from Germany) goes on collecting trips all the time (specializing in Africans) & they have an amazing facility for breeding as well. The dozens of ponds cut out of the local limestone nicely mimic the hard water of African lakes. Their indoors area has hundreds of tanks & vats for more delicate species.

My buddy Kevin Porter has worked there forever (they've been in business for over 20 yrs & are known worldwide) & is now manager of the fish farm end of the operation (he may even be A MFK member, he's always got a 1/2 dozen big tanks @ home). I always try to do a walk thru when I go down to Miami, but Kev has to be working as it's not open to the public (I think they mostly sell wholesale). It's always a blast to gawk at all the great, weird fish he has. The pond raised big fish are outrageously colorful! I brought Starrfish back a bucket full of fun fish on one trip...eels, schoolie cats, etc.

Their website shows only their African stock, but I know Kev gets stuff from elsewhere, too. They ship all over the world, but I don't know their policy on minimum orders or such. But Kevin is a great guy & might bend rules for certain purchases, such as a couple people or club getting together to order.

http://www.oldworldexoticfish.com/stock.html has a decent list of the Africans, but not much else. If you find anything interesting, call or write (their website is NOT designed for orders or even contact), the location below....

Ask for Kevin (he's EXTREMELY well-versed in all things fishy), & tell him Greg M. sent you ...he may have a more comprehensive listing of what's available.

He also sport-fishes the S. Florida canals & lakes for invasive species....ask him about all the stuff he's caught there! He doesn't sell those, tho. :WHOA:
