Well folks after the death of my aimara about a month ago, then getting a GATF and having that die about 2 weeks afterwards, I have decided to go back to an aimara. I managed to pick up one of the final suriname aimara from Wes which I will probably have delivered late next week.

Biggest factor in giving up on the GATF is I just don't think I have the patience and time for a more sensitive fish. I have a 2nd child on the way, and will be moving in the next 1-2 years. I think it will be futile to invest time and care into a fish that would not do well with the move. Not to mention my fish tank room is really the children's play room, and that does not work well for jumpy fish.

Wish me luck on this on. If this does not work out, I will be stuck going with barbs, silver dollars or something else equally as boring for awhile. Pics once I get the new guy.

Arrived!!!

This little bugger is tiny, I am guessing the 4-5in. Clearly stressed and colors are faded but I am liking the colors so far. Will take more pics once settled in. Lights off for now and some make shift stuff to weigh down the glass tops. I will go pick up some other stuff to make sure the tops are weighed down sufficiently so I have no accidents like the last time.

That's a nice size to grow it up and more change that it will let you comm with other fishes.
Last time I got 1 from Wes around 12 inches in size and that thing once settled in my tank pretty much attack anything that move in my tank, it's even attack to my shadow on the glass while I'm around the tank LOL I sold it cause it's a crazy maniac aggressive, way too much for me :p

Nice bro, as Yuki said, now might be the time to add any dithers you'd want with it and a Goliath if that is still a future plan. Glad you didn't give up the hobby like many do.

Cohab with gatf is a pipe dream. When I upgrade tanks maybe I'll keep the 180 and take a try at a gatf again. This little fella is about 4-5in and I had 3 tinfoil barbs at about 3in in the tank as dithers with the gatf. Woke up this morning with two of them gone already. Something tells me he will need something large and tough with this guy.

Dreams, we've all got them lol. Oh yea, with wolves you always need something tough and fast, usually bigger, but not so much that it can predate or take advantage of that size difference, don't want anything to aggressive either. I tried SD with my curu and he literally bit them in half, they were to big to fit in his mouth but he didn't care, he bit off what he could, would leave the rest of the body and bite another. Now I have one SD in a separate tank. Tried Bala sharks and one morning woke up and they were mauled, chunks taken out, bite marks everywhere, they were the same size in length as the curu, but taller bodied. Odoe may be good temporarily, till he outgrows them, they're likely to fast for him to catch Ime. Or you can do larger species of brycron. Or try some armored catfish. Irwini are nice.
