In the very far distant future ( When I have saved enough money to buy this monster tank) I plan on having some fish! My main focus on this tank is the Fire Eel. I've spent several weeks researching these fish and wanted to get an opinion from those more experienced than myself.

Do you think that these fish would be able to get along relatively well together?? Again, my main focus is the fire eel, while having a variety to the species I keep in that aquarium.

Ok well I'm not going into detail since I don't even know where to begin but I do know that oscars and clown loaches are not a good mix.

Really? That's unfortunate. I'm rather particular to having a group of clown loaches as I've never had the opportunity to own them before. I could remove the two Oscars and perhaps add more to the silver dollar shoal.

Well you actually could keep the two together if you'd be willing to spend a lot of money on getting large clown loaches at around 9 inches.

What kind of money are we looking at for 9 inch loaches? This is my dream tank, and I'd love to make it happen, but at no expense to the fish's health. I was doing some brief researching and I've read that Oscars mouths are like bass, wouldn't that put my ropefish in danger too?

Well I've seen a 12 incher go for a smooth 1,000. You'd be looking at around... don't quote me but I'd say $200-$300 each maybe?
As for the Ropefish with the oscar, I wouldn't put them rogether. It's like spaghetti for the oscar.

Ahh thank you, I'm definitely removing the two Oscars then.

Yep, big clown loaches are rare and the price reflects it.

A 5-6" clown loach will be perfectly fine with a 13" oscar. Over the years I've found my big oscars up to 14" won't bother with anything that's not exceptionally slim but over a genuine 5".
