Would an Ornate Bichir (polypterus ornatipinnis) be a good Bichir for starters? Could it live in a 75 gallon tank? I want a larger Bichir 2-3 ft that can stay in a 55-75 gallon.

If they put the true sized tank the fish required they would sell far less of them. Most stores don't have much for scruples.Senegal_Bichir77;5038800; said:Any idea how many gallons? A website that sells them says they only need 50 gallons. Another says 75 gallons.
u got to be joking me! the minimum tank for an ornate is a 120 gal! i think the website just wants u to get the fish... sneaky bunch. Personnally, I think an ornate wouldn't be a completely good starter bichir since it grows monsterous and it is one of the most aggresive of all bichirs! i would recommend you an albino bichir, palmas, or a senegalus bichir. Looking at ur profile picture, it already seem u already made ur decision....Senegal_Bichir77;5038800; said:Any idea how many gallons? A website that sells them says they only need 50 gallons.
