Hi,
My Oscar’s name is George. I think he got spooked three nights ago when I forgot to turn his night light on.
He hasnt eaten on his own or pooped since. I have been feeding him smushed pellets/bloodworm/daphnia (his fav) slurry via a hacked pipette.
He is unable to close his jaw on his own. He is able to open his mouth all the way and bite down on the pipette and my finger with some force but not a lot. He doesnt always swallow the food I give him, he will mostly spit it back out. :-/
Is there anything I can do for him, or is this just a wait and see type of thing.
Pics attached to show current status.
Thank you for any help in advance.
Tank is run w 2 fluval fx4 filters, and gets partial water changes once a week. Debris (poop/leftover food) is vacc’d every day. He is 11inches long living in a 180gal with two 10in plecos that he grew up with, 16guppies, one 7 in algae eater, 1 crawfish, 2 bristlenose cats, and one baby long finned oscar. It is a really peaceful tank. He has never eaten or tried to eat his tank mates. Ive had him since he was 2inches He will be 2 yrs old this spring. From what Ive been reading it seems like a 50/50 shot. Either he eats on his own or he passes away in 6 months. :-/ I do not have a fish doc, and we are in the middle of Hurricane Lane, so Im hoping someone will be able to help my gentle giant. :-/
